Have you ever wanted to share your advice with the president? Here is your chance. The Washington Post and Handwriting Without Tears teamed up to allow kids to give a piece of advice to newly re-inaugurated president Barak Obama. Read the three pieces of advice offered by kids below. Select one and tell if this is good or bad advice and explain why. Then in three to four sentences leave your own advice for the president. Make sure it is clearly stated and explain what exactly you want the president to think, say, or do.

You should try to help the schools earn more money. Also help the homeless people and you should help lost animals. If we do that, we will make the world a better place. Do you know that I am recycling bottles and paper? I pick up all of the trash in my yard and help lost animals find its owner. If you have time, can you write back?

I have some advice for you. Let’s start off with better school lunches. I eat three times a day and I don’t look forward to lunch, so I bring lunch. We should at least get real food! They should be healthier and something more than a microwaved box with food. You should also make longer school recesses so there is less childhood obesity. There are just two of my many ideas. I’ll keep sending so watch out for . . .

ReplyDeleteI thought that the third letter is bad because it doesn't give any explanation as to why there should be an "all day ice cream day" and some people cant have ice cream because they cant digest it well. I dont think it is a reasonable suggestion.
I think the President should help the homeless. Why, because they dont have any money, food and a warm place to sleep at night. There should be more funding. I think the President should agree because they, the homeless, dont have anything, not even family or friends. I believe there should be more programs to help find a solution.
I think this is a growing problem, which is why President Obama should listen to my advice before it gets worse.

ReplyDeleteThe best advice I liked the most is the first one because sometimes just imagen all the homless adults and kids sleeps in the cold at night or running away from counties that get them. Sometimes I think President Obama should help lost animals and homeless people.For example, their might be many animals lost out there some die some don't, but I think we shoud help them anway no matter what.The least advice was the second one because my opinion is that helping nature is better , I know food is nature but at least you have something to eat , not like those homeless people . I think school lunch is ok.
I picked the last one. I do and dont think this is good advise because if you eat to much ice cream you can get sick and throw up, but ice cram is my favorite food and i love it. My advise to the presedent is to recycle more to help the envierment and stop pollution and oil spills. we can use the trash to make something we can use over and over agine and not liter and if you liter or you pollute ,it will all go in to the chesapeak bay and kill fish and animals that live in the bay. So for me can you and your family do the 3 rs.

I pick the first one because i think that yeah we have to help homeless and lost dogs because if we dont help the dogs they might just die in the streets.Also if we dont help the homeless they might just die of hunger. An advice i would give the president is that he should help out alitte on the envierment better tan just worring about the money even thogh we the people need money to buy our foods and other stuff we need.

I picked the last one and I think its bad advice because if we eat ice cream all day we might get sick and some people might not like ice cream. Also the advice was an opinion it was just saying something about a girl that likes ice cream. This is my advice: Mr. Barack Obama I think we should have a whole week of fasting because we can maybe raze money for the homeless and help them with the money and but them clothes and food and a home that's what we should do Mr. Barack Obama. i think the first one is good advise because it talks about homeless people and animals! My advise to the president is that he should try 2 end animal abuse because some people beat there animals to death and some just steal them and beat them to death, it makes others wonder what type of person it takes to do something so terrible and some cry wishing they could've done something 2 help!!!! Also my other advise to the president is to try and go to the places that homeless people live and go vist them so that he can see how much people need him, i think he should start helping them by paying for their education and shelter, provide them with medication too because a lot of homeless children die of heart disease and cancer every year, a lot of them lose their families to bad health and end up being alone or having to take care for their younger sisters or brothers by themselves, they give up must of their food so that they can eat better too!! He should also give them a better place to live because natural disasters can kill most of them and also the freezing cold in winter!!

I would pick the first one because her second opinion was right i have seen lots and lots of people who are homeless.Sometimes when I see these people I dont know why but I get alittle emotional.I mean like somtimes I see lots of people with cardboard signs and they ask for money but people dont even give them a dollar they lie to them and say they dont have change when the people who dont give a dollar are I bet going to the mall.
ReplyDeleteWell my advice is that ,people wake up even just giving homeless people a quarter makes a BIG differece.So where ever you go just keep a or some coins or money in your pocket because homeless people are everywhere.

ReplyDeleteI think the one about helping schools earn more money and to help homeless people and help lost dog. Its a good advice because schools do need more money and help the homeless and to take more care of the lost dogs. My advice to the president would be to have less days of school. Also to have gum in class. The most important one is to let people from other country's to let them go where they want to go without having a passport.
