Daylight Saving Time
Standard time is determined by checking clocks against a sundial. When the Sun is directly overhead and shadows are at their shortest, it is said to be noon. Many areas do not observe true Sun time due to political and social borders.
During the First World War, Germany instituted a daylight saving program to save power. They ordered everyone to set their clocks ahead by one hour, or one hour ahead of standard Sun time. Doing this made it so that it was light longer into the evening, saving their country energy in the form of electricity.
In 1918 the United States began a similar policy. Today, most countries around the world observe Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving Time usually begins in April and ends in October in the Northern Hemisphere, after which clocks are set back to standard Sun time.
Imagine you are a world government. If you could control time how would you change it and why? Write three to four sentences to explain your response. How does the caption help you understand the image? Make sure you answer all three questions in your response.

ReplyDeleteIf could change the time i would change it at a certain part of the year. First when it is winter i would change the time because then if we don't change we will have a shorter day.In summer i would change the time because then we would have a normal time.
If i were in the government i would do what is right for the word. I would build new things so we wouldn't have a lot of problem. the image helps me because it shows how it looks like.

DeleteI think they should not change the time because some people get confused what time it is and sometime when it 7:00 a.m they think it's really 7:00 a.m and when it's 8:00 a.m they think it's time for school and they get to at 9:00a.m.That is why i think it's not a good idea to change the time because students and teachers get confused.
IF I COULD CONTROL THE TIME I WOULD MAKE SHOTER DAYS AND LONGER SLEEP TIME BECAUSE GET MORE SLEEP AND SHOTER SCHOOL DAYS FOR SCHOOL.

Briannaberry53 I would change time by when its 12:00 when every one goes to sleep I would make it p.m instead of a.m . I would make it p.m instead of a.m because to me it just makes more since to me.It makes more since because if its 12 p.m when it turns 1:00a.m.The caption helps me because at first I really didn't know what that was till I read the caption beside the picture.

ReplyDeleteIf I were the worlds government and I would have to change the time I would NOT change the time because sometimes if you to much thing to do in only in one day of course you would need time like a watch . I will also put up clocks to so if people are not prepared with a watch you can look around and find a clock to look at the time . I would change the time to P.M because you would get more rest days but at the same time I wouldn't because we all need sun light to see out side , so I as government as the world would not change time.

ReplyDeleteIf I could change the time for the world. I would add more sleep hours than day light hours. Why, because sleeping for me means getting enough rest & staying in bed, longer. I don't really like getting up in the morning.
The image is telling me how a Sun dial looks like & the caption tells me what it is used for, to determine sun time.

I want school to be shorter because you have to do work and you get homework. My last reason i want school to be shorter is because i dont like learning ......... Also caption does not help me.

If I could change time in the world I would change time when most people need to relax like in the summer and winter. It could be difficult for some people.For instance, if it would be one hour ahead and that particular person didn't know it was one hour ahead he or she could've been late for something. If I could control time I would change the time when I am really tired and want to sleep more. If I could control time I would make fall much shorter because it gets too dark soon and it's cold so I can't have fun outside. I would make summar longer because school is closed. There is no homework so I can play at the park till night. The capiton helps me to understand the image as because during fall the time goes back one hour and during spring the time goes forward one hour
